COVID 19 Update

In line with government guidance, we are looking forward to visitors returning to the Isles of Scilly from the 4th July 2020.

We are finalising our plans and risk assessments to ensure  that all necessary precautions are in place to protect you, and us, and our island community. With these measures in place, we are excited to be able to offer self-guided tours and tastings as well as direct wine sales from the cellar door from mid-July. We will update this with further information once our plans are in place, but rest assured that you can include St Martin's Vineyard in your Scilly itinerary for 2020!

Our Wines

Since the first vintage was celebrated in the new millennium, St Martin's wines have been a well kept secret, exclusively available on the Isles of Scilly either direct from our cellar door or from a range of local pubs and restaurants where they perfectly accompany local produce.

In 2020, for the first time, our range of still white, rose and red wines are available for delivery to your door.

The Vineyard

On south-facing slopes, a stone's throw from the sea, lies St Martin's Vineyard - a unique coastal vineyard and winery working towards organic production of white, red and rose wines.

The Winemakers

Leaving behind the landlocked Midlands, we moved to the island in 2020 to take on guardianship of this special site from Val and Graham Thomas who planted the first vines here in 1996.

St Martin's, Scilly

The Isles of Scilly lie 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall - once you reach Land's End, simply keep going! St Martin's is one of the smaller inhabited islands boasting stunning sandy beaches, unique flora and wildlife, and outstanding local produce.

Biodiversity and Organic Production

The vineyard is a haven for wildlife including rare arable flora, Scilly shrews and a thriving songbird population. After years of minimal inputs, we are taking the next step towards Organic certification in 2020.

This Week on the Vineyard

We can't wait to welcome visitors back to St Martin's, but in the meantime we would like to share our impressions of the vineyard as it moves through the season. We thought that the key aspects of wine tasting would be a fun basis for a sensory shapshot!

Sparrows and swallows learning to fly; dogroses and blackberries flowering in the hedges; the waxing moon at night

The waves on Par Beach with the wind from the south; the gentle hum of aircraft as the islands begin to reopen; birdsong

Pak choi and mange tout from the vineyard; courgettes, carrots and sweet early tomatoes from veg stalls around the island

Bracken as it is pulled from the paths; cut grass as we mow between the vines; honeysuckle at night
